Explantion and History

The topic that I have chosen to do is the climate change in Washington DC. Climate change is when there is a disruption in the weather patterns for long durations of time. Also, climate change is referred to a change in the average weather conditions. Everywhere in the world has experienced climate change, some places more than others, but Washington DC is one of the most affected places as of right now, and it is only going to get worse if we continue what we are doing. Climate change has been wreaking havoc to the earth since the beginning of time, but it only truly started affecting Washington DC in the early nineteen hundreds. In the beginning of the nineteen hundreds, the average temperature steadily started rising .5 degrees Celsius every decade in Washington, which meant that the sea level consistently went up as well. People in Washington just ignored the fact that the climate was getting warmer and many did see the problem with it. Until, Washington had their first of many major floods in 1980. By 1990, Washington DC had an overwhelming lead in floods throughout all of the US.

    1. This really surprises me and makes me realize just how bad global warming is getting here in North America, I think it's an issue that needs to be taken much more seriously than it has been. Awesome post Coleton!

    2. I would have to agree with Abraham. It would never had been this bad if they wouldn't have ignored the problem!

    3. I could not agree more Abraham. It is really provoking to see how oblivious people are. They are destroying the Earth without even knowing it. Fortunately, things are changing. Climate change is often mentioned in the news and we now even have topics in our textbooks related to this issue. More people are becoming aware. Great post Coleton, I think it this was an awesome topic to choose.

    5. Totally agree with you Abraham. People need to start paying more attention about the Earth to prevent such horrible disasters. Same with you Saran. The word about climate change is definitely increasing and society in becoming more educated on the topic. Hopefully we can prevent disasters from climate change in the future.

  2. That's really eye opening, it's too bad that the people living there just ignored the problem all the way till a disaster happened. Hopefully with all this new technology we can get cold hard facts about this issue to make sure that people are encouraged to make a change. Great post Coleton!
